“ I saw this place on tiktok. It's definitely an older vibe. My man and I came here for date night. The food was so good! I had lamb chops and my boyfriend had oxtails. The drinks were good too. A photographer came to take our pics. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. Best part of all was the live music. I would go back again. ”
“ Reservations are highly recommended. We had a noon reservation on. Saturday. There were a few patrons, but people started coming in after we ordered. Our waitress was very attentive. There was a table time limit. They were able to give a great experience during that time, because service and food delivery were spot on. The menu has a Creole feel. There was a DJ on the stage playing the best mix of jams. The brunch mimosas were reasonably priced. I ordered the blackened catfish and shrimp with a side of collard greens. The main dish arrived without the shrimp. The waitress was apologetic and was able to return with the shrimp. Oh my goodness. The catfish and shrimp grits were a real delicacy. The crawfish étouffée drenched over the dish matched well with the catfish, shrimp and grits. The seasonings were delightful and well thought out. The creamy grits were made so well. The collard greens were tasty. I sampled the sweet cornbread. Cornbread isn't my favorite type of bread, but this was a delight. We weren't able to enjoy the patio area, because of the rainy weather, but we were able to step out there to see how neat it was. This is another spot I will add to my list of places to revisit. Great service. Great food. They earned every star. ”
“ I love feeling Phil & Derek's. I have been a patron of this restaurant since way before they were even at this location. Their food is authentic soul food that you can tell is made from the heart loaded with seasonings and lots of love. The portions are humongous and again you can taste flavor in everybody as if your grandmother made it for Sunday dinner. They are great for Sunday brunch they used to have a Sunday buffet that was out of this world I'm not sure if they're still having that after covid. Mac& Cheese - nothing fake here love it with lots of fresh cheese and made just the way grandmother would make it from a block of cheese LOL. No lacking of anything here definitely try it. Greens & cornbread - it's like having a holiday every day when you're eating here all of the side of in fixings you can imagine from Black eyed peas included you will find here. The fried chicken definitely appears as though it's fried in a cast iron skillet. This is not your typical deep fried chicken wings these are down home thoroughly crispy and breaded homemade chicken wings. The lobster and shrimp skewers oh my goodness there are no words your mouth is just thankful to you the very point that your taste buds start to explode with flavor and taste the grilling flavor behind it it's just an amazing experience you don't want to miss out on. Myah was my server and she was being trained. Just excellent even though she wasn't training she was just the sweetest very attentive at watching your drink get low and refilling without question asking if your food was okay, asking if you need anything else if there's anything she can get you and the place was packed. There was wait staff everywhere waiting to help you with anything you needed. Did I mention the entertainment?! Oh well there is before the live band starts at 8:00 there is music playing at a very upbeat of volume so there is definitely a vibe if you are looking to go here have some great libations and a wonderful time with your girlfriends or mate. The live bands and singing are always sensational and there is no way that you cannot dance in your seat and I can't see why most people wouldn't be on their feet as well. All around I enjoy this place for well over 10 years and I'm so thankful they have made it through all of the things that could have taken them down. Cheers to Phil & Derek's for a job well done for so many years. ”
“ Had a Saturday night birthday party of 16 people. They took good care of us! They allowed me to bring in a cake and balloons earlier in the day & brought them out while we were there to celebrate my sister in law's birthday. For a party larger than 15 people, you must put down a $600 advance deposit which is applied to your bill and is the minimum spend for your group. They have an 1 check only policy for large groups so someone should be prepared to foot the bill & have the other party members pay them directly. There are ~ 60 seats in the place so our group of 15 plus another large party took up most of the space. The band was very good, it was Danielle Cellise & band. They did a great job playing current & past R&B. Throughout the night they gave multiple shoutouts to the people celebrating birthdays & anniversaries which made our birthday girl feel very special. The lights stayed pretty bright for night time. I was told they would go down later in the evening but they stayed the same from 7:30pm to10:00pm So sorry I can't recall our server's name. She was personable & attentive to our large group. The drinks were good. The Henney side car was alcohol forward & tasty as was the long island iced tea. One person thought the margarita was light on the alcohol, but everyone else seemed to like their drinks. On to the food: Blackened catfish. Cooked just right. Comes fried but they let me get it blackened Greens were good. Had a little subtle kick. More meat than I prefer so I was busy trying to find the greens but others may like the meat. Broccoli - nicely done with garlic & butter. Everyone in the group enjoyed their food. No complaints. I worked with Amy to make the group reservation. It took a few phone calls to finally connect with her. Once I got her number, I was able to text questions & receive answers. I recommend it for a group gathering! ”
“ It's a nice brunch spot and good place to get some good soul food & drinks. It will be lively, but there's plenty of space and not crowded, which I appreciate. I also like the fact you can make reservations. We came on a Saturday night where they had live music in one area, and a DJ in another. Because it was date night for us and I really wanted to be able to drink, eat and chat - we opted for the area where the DJ was. Pros Good food Good drinks Great music Easy reservations Ample of space Cons It's a bit too loud where the live music. It's not a super large area so it doesn't have to be. I felt like the music was in my throat, and having a conversation is not possible Valet parking is available and not overly priced either. We paid $10. I'll definitely be back. ”
